My Story
I’m a Catholic/Christian first and foremost. Nothing will ever be as important to me as my faith, and I would never imagine omitting that from what I do. My full testimony is below, and I hope everyone who visits this page gets something out of it! Sure, it’s cool being a cover artist, but it’s even cooler getting to share my faith along the way. Jesus loves you and He’s with you no matter what you’re going through! Psalm 23:4
I grew up playing Nintendo games and have always loved both the fun and catchy melodies, and the epic and heroic tracks that composers like Koji Kondo came up with. For years, I have also enjoyed listening to covers of these songs on Spotify— Animal Crossing hourly tracks while studying, Mario Kart tracks while driving, and yeah, probably even some Sonic or Zelda while working out… but there were always certain tracks that I felt needed some more love on platforms like Spotify. And so the idea for Firefly Fusion was born.
While I do plan on covering many popular (and rightfully legendary) songs, I also have plans to cover some underrated ones too… and because I grew up in the 2000s, a lot of GameCube and Wii tracks will probably be represented as well. Feel free to request covers in the comments! I can’t promise anything, but I’ll do my best.
My Testimony
I was born with hydrocephalus, which was caused by one of the ventricles in my brain not forming correctly, and therefore cerebrospinal fluid began to build up- causing dangerously high pressure around my brain. Fortunately, at a routine checkup when I was just a few days old, the pediatrician knew something was wrong and referred my parents to a neurosurgeon for a shunt implant. God blessed me with an amazing pediatric neurosurgeon who saw me through numerous brain surgeries for the first 4-5 years of my life. He is without a doubt one of my favorite people on the planet, and I would not be here today without him. It was truly a miracle that they caught the fluid build-up when they did (and that it had not occurred earlier) as many cases of infant hydrocephalus occur in utero, leading to disabilities or even death. Other than requiring a shunt implant, I was left with zero disabilities, and other than a few limitations on what activities I could participate in (EX: contact sports, scuba diving), I lead a normal life.
God has been present throughout all of this, and is so good. I went 15 years (a rare span for my condition) living a happy childhood into early adulthood, until another “God story” led to the latest shunt revision brain surgery, where I closed out my time under my God-given pediatric neurosurgeon, due to phasing out of his care at age 21. That particular story is a bit too long to share here, but suffice it to say that God was with me the whole way, even if I had moments of fear or anxiety.
I share all this because I know firsthand that God uses suffering and “bad things” and turns them into good. Even if you can’t see it in the moment. Whether that’s the passing of a loved one, termination from a job, or a health condition, God can and will use it for good if we let Him.
While I was raised Catholic and was exposed to the Gospel and the Bible as a whole from infancy, going through all of this gave me a much deeper understanding of what faith means very early on. I’m certainly not perfect, and I screw up all the time, but because of what I’ve gone through I’ve seen His love so brilliantly. To all of my family, friends, mentors, and former doctors/nurses, thank you for being there when I needed you. And most importantly, thank you God for my story.
I hope that by sharing this listeners of all backgrounds will come to know Jesus or deepen their faith in Him. For more information on Christianity and Catholicism, see my Apologetics page.
God bless!
